What if it were possible to change africa forever?

UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - DECEMBER UPDATE!

We have received word that Dr. Samson Kwaje, Secretary Treasurer of the Savannah Farmers Cooperative (SFC) and Minister of Agriculture and Forestry for the Government of Southern Sudan has been injured in an ambush. His driver/bodyguard was killed by one of the twenty bullets which hit his vehicle. Dr. Kwaje’s injury was in the hand, fortunately missing any bones. He will recover well.

The horror of this incident is that four others in his convoy were killed along with his bodyguard. Two of the vehicles were burned. The purpose of the ambush has not been clearly reported. Please pray for the safety of all the people involved, and their families.
Other government officials, just like Dr. Kwaje are working voluntarily with The Savannah Farmers Cooperative in their capacity as private citizens, not as representatives of their government.

OTHER NEW DEVELOPMENTS

(1) - The two SFC Bulldozers are both broken down for the time being. The engines have been transported to Kampala, Uganda for repair and overhaul. The Cat 5 will be up and running soon. The Kaimatsu is in need of a new driveshaft. Cost of repairs to both will be more than $15,000 (USA) This delays the clearing of land substantially, and demonstrates the need we have for a larger Cat 6 (New) to keep the land-clearing going.

(2) -We have received a substantial gift which is allowing us to build the first industrial-sized grinding mill in Southern Sudan. It will grind all our corn into meal, as well as sorghum, millet and other grains. It will be located at the first 2,000 acre farm compound at BORI. Blueprints are now being produced. Since there is no public utilities in towns, let alone in the countryside, we will require a very large diesel generator for 220 Volt power.

(3) – Cal Bombay is planning a trip to Sudan to accompany two volunteers who are going there to lend their expertise at the Bori farm development. They will be assembling three Corn Pickers which are en route to Sudan now. Mr. Bruce Youngblut will head up the re-assembly of these important machines. You cannot imagine the harvesting of 500 aces of corn BY HAND. These corn-pickers will speed up that progress. Mr. Allen Koopman will take on the task of demonstrating the most efficient use of seed planters as well as being adviser in other areas of farming expertise. Please pray for this trip.

This all represents a very great need for prayer and support to be able to keep up with the increasingly larger yields from the various SFC farm fields. Please do pray!
